Isolated in Uganda’s rugged far northeast, Kidepo Valley is regularly voted one of Africa’s most beautiful national parks — broad savannas ringed by mountains and seasonal rivers, with the Karamoja culture all around. Its remoteness keeps crowds away and rewards visitors with lion (including tree-climbers), elephant, cheetah, buffalo herds and a string of dry-country species — ostrich, greater and lesser kudu, caracal — found nowhere else in the country. A genuine wilderness and a fly-in highlight.
