The Kingdom of Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) is small but mighty in conservation, its parks saved and run by the pioneering Big Game Parks trust. Wedged between South Africa and Mozambique, it slots neatly into a Kruger or KwaZulu-Natal itinerary and adds rich Swazi culture, dramatic scenery and — in Mkhaya — some of the finest, closest rhino encounters anywhere in Africa.

Hlane Royal National Park

Eswatini’s largest protected area and former royal hunting ground, Hlane is the kingdom’s big-game park — elephant, white rhino, lion and giraffe across classic lowveld bush, with rustic rest camps and excellent value.
