Malawi — the “Warm Heart of Africa” — has become one of the continent’s most exciting conservation stories. In partnership with African Parks, once-empty reserves have been transformed: lions, cheetah, rhino and thousands of elephant reintroduced, turning Liwonde and Majete into genuine Big Five destinations. Add the highland wilderness of Nyika, the famous freshwater beaches of Lake Malawi, low visitor numbers and a famously friendly welcome, and Malawi offers a fresh, affordable safari paired with one of Africa’s best bush-and-lake combinations. The newest chapter: Bua River Lodge has just reopened inside Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.
