Victoria Falls — Mosi-oa-Tunya, “the Smoke that Thunders” — is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and the beating heart of Zimbabwe’s tourism. Beyond the spectacle of the Falls, the adjoining Zambezi National Park protects riverfront teeming with elephant, buffalo, hippo and antelope, best seen on a sunset river cruise. Wildlife & Ecology
The Victoria Falls rainforest is sustained by spray from the cataract itself, while nearby Zambezi National Park protects riverine woodland and mopane upstream of the Falls. Elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, giraffe and predators all occur, though wildlife density is lower here than in Hwange.
Best Time to Visit
Falls volume is usually highest from February to May, when spray can obscure views, and lowest from October to December, when the underlying geology is clearer. Wildlife viewing in Zambezi National Park is best in the dry months from June to October.

Victoria Falls is a transboundary UNESCO World Heritage Site shared with Zambia, and the river corridor here connects into the broader KAZA landscape.
