Gorilla Safari Lodge
A Crystal Lodges Uganda property set on the edge of Bwindi’s rainforest, within easy reach of the park’s gorilla trekking trailheads. Its rooms and lounge open onto forest views, putting guests close to the trek departure points each morning.
Silverback Lodge
Silverback sits on a mist-laced ridge above Bwindi’s ancient rainforest, its 12 intimate “nests” each with a private terrace facing the canopy, just minutes from the Buhoma trailhead. Rebuilt and relaunched in 2025 by Marasa Africa, the lodge pairs contemporary African design with quiet, nature-led spaces — including Wellnest, a spa focused on post-trek recovery.
Gorilla Forest Lodge
Gorilla Forest Lodge, an A&K Sanctuary, is one of the few properties standing on a private concession inside Bwindi itself rather than on the forest edge — eight tents on a ridge with the canopy right at the deck rail, and the trekking departure point within walking distance. Tents have carved headboards by Ugandan makers and deep baths for after the trek; habituated gorilla families sometimes move through the grounds unannounced.
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge
On Nteko Ridge above the southern edge of Bwindi, with the Virunga volcanoes lined up across the valley and the Rift beyond them. Guests stay in private stone cottages, each with its own fireplace; the main lodge has more of them, plus a bar and an organic kitchen garden that supplies the food. It was founded nearly twenty years ago with the African Wildlife Foundation and local conservation groups, which makes it one of the older eco-lodges in gorilla country. The Nkuringo trailhead is a short walk away — three gorilla families there, and seven more habituated groups at Rushaga nearby. Over 350 bird species in the forest below.
Bwindi Lodge
Bwindi Lodge, run by Volcanoes Safaris, is in Buhoma in the north of the park, close to the starting points for gorilla trekking with the Mubare, Habinyanja and Rushegura families. Eight thatched bandas, built in the local style, have private balconies facing the forest canopy. Beyond the gorillas, guests can take the waterfall walk through the rainforest, a village walk in Buhoma, or a tour of the tea project the lodge has run with local farmers since 2013. The Bwindi Bar in the village is run with the Volcanoes Safaris Partnership Trust, and its profits fund hospitality training for young people.
