Okonjima Plains Camp
The largest of Okonjima’s camps, set on open plains 700 metres from the reserve’s airstrip. It has 25 rooms, 11 View Rooms with wide verandas and 14 Classic Rooms, with family units in both, so it suits families as well as a stopover on the way to Etosha. Meals are served in a large dining barn, the camp overlooks a waterhole and has two swimming pools, and the reserve’s leopard, pangolin and brown hyena tracking can all be booked from here.
Okonjima Luxury Bush Camp
A smaller, more private alternative to Plains Camp, 2.5 kilometres away at the foot of the Omboroko Mountains. Eight thatched chalets and a Junior Suite stand 80 to 100 metres apart, each with wide glass windows, two queen-size beds and its own separate lounge. Meals and evenings are spent in a pod-shaped lapa with fireplaces overlooking a waterhole, and the pool is reserved for Bush Camp guests. Stays are fully inclusive.
Okonjima Private Bush Suite
The most private option on the reserve, booked by a single group of up to four. Two en-suite bedrooms share a double-volume thatched living area with a wood-burning fireplace and a full kitchen, in acacia thornveld facing the Omboroko Mountains, 700 metres from Bush Camp. Canvas walls roll up for open views, the bathrooms have indoor and outdoor showers, and there is a 13-metre pool with a natural waterhole nearby. A private chef, guide and safari vehicle come with the suite.
Okonjima African Villa
The most remote place to stay on Okonjima, around 10 kilometres from the other camps and let to one group at a time. The main house has two en-suite bedrooms, one of them a family unit, and two separate mini-suites stand close by, sleeping up to eight adults and two children aged 12 and over. A host and chef look after the villa, which has its own vehicle, a wood-burning fireplace and an infinity pool on a teak deck overlooking a natural waterhole.
