Mvuu Lodge

Mvuu Lodge is the smaller and more private of the two Mvuu properties, a short way upriver from the camp on the Mvuu lagoon off the Shire. Eight Meru-style tented suites stand on the bank, each with a ceiling fan, an outdoor shower and a deck facing the water. Three have plunge pools, among them Kuwala, the newest suite, which adds a stocked bar and an indoor as well as an outdoor shower. Two wooden dining decks look over the lagoon, one of them up among the trees, and a boardwalk leads to the pool. Game drives, walks and boat safaris on the Shire run from here, and bush dinners can be arranged.

Mvuu Camp

Mvuu Camp is the larger and more relaxed of the two Mvuu properties, on the banks of the Shire in the middle of the park. There are 14 stone and canvas chalets and family tents, so it suits families well. The thatched dining and lounge area looks over the river between two baobabs, and dinner is sometimes served in the boma under the stars. A waterhole in front of camp brings game close, and there is a pool, a curio shop and an education centre used by school groups. Game drives, walks and boat safaris on the Shire run daily, and hides give photographers a low angle on the water.
