Rubondo is a lushly forested island national park in the southwestern corner of Lake Victoria — a true off-grid sanctuary. Chimpanzees introduced decades ago are now being habituated for tracking, sharing the island with elephant, giraffe, sitatunga and prolific birdlife, while the lake offers world-class Nile perch fishing. With a single exclusive lodge and almost no other visitors, it’s one of Africa’s most secluded and original safari experiences.
