South Africa’s largest private reserve, owned by the Oppenheimer family, Tswalu is a vast, ultra-exclusive slice of the southern Kalahari. The draw is not Big Five density but the desert’s rare and secretive species — black-maned Kalahari lion, meerkat, pangolin, aardvark and brown hyena — enjoyed at your own pace with a private guide and tracker. With only a handful of suites across two camps, it is one of Africa’s most private safari experiences.
