The Chyulu Hills are a range of young, grass-covered volcanic cones between Tsavo and Amboseli, immortalised as Hemingway’s “Green Hills of Africa.” Cloaked in lush grassland and cloud forest, with Kilimanjaro filling the horizon, this is one of Kenya’s most cinematic and exclusive landscapes. Community-owned conservancies here host a handful of high-end lodges and offer what the national parks can’t — walking, horse-riding, night drives and lava-tube caves, with elephant, lion and big general game.
