Nyerere National Park

Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous)

Africa’s largest game reserve — over 50,000 square kilometres of wild miombo woodland, rivers, lakes and floodplains. Named after Tanzania’s first president, Nyerere (formerly Selous) hosts Africa’s largest wild dog population and some of the finest boat safaris on the continent along the Rufiji River. The scale and wildness here are extraordinary. Access is by fly-in from Dar es Salaam, and visitor numbers remain low relative to the size.
